SELENA GOMEZ BREAKS DOWN AS SHE REACTS TO TRUMP DEPORTATIONS!

Selena Gomez openly expressed her distress regarding President Donald Trump’s early actions against immigrants after he assumed office. On Monday, the actress known for her role in Emilia Pérez shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram Story.

In the video, which she later deleted, Gomez was visibly emotional, stating, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” Her emotional display led to backlash, prompting her to comment, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” in a subsequent post.

Since his inauguration last week, Trump has aggressively pursued his campaign promise to crack down on undocumented immigrants, publicly celebrating the arrests made by ICE on social media. His campaign was marked by promises of widespread deportations.

The administration is reportedly negotiating an asylum deal with El Salvador that would facilitate the deportation of non-Salvadoran migrants to that country, according to CBS News. Both Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance amplified fears about immigration during the 2024 campaign, with claims of gang takeovers in cities to justify tougher immigration policies.

Gomez has been a vocal supporter of immigrant rights. In 2019, she produced a documentary series, Living Undocumented, focusing on the lives of immigrant families under the threat of deportation. She also penned an op-ed for Time that year, sharing her aunt’s harrowing experience of crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. In her words, “I’m concerned about the way people are being treated in my country. As a Mexican-American woman, I feel a responsibility to use my platform to be a voice for people who are too afraid to speak. Fear shouldn’t stop us from getting involved and educating ourselves on an issue that affects millions of people in our country. Fear didn’t stop my aunt from getting into the back of that truck. And for that, I will always be grateful.”
