Reality TV Star Known As “Kash” Fatally Shot In Downtown Oakland; Suspect Arrested!

Mackayla Paige, a 29-year-old Richmond resident who went by the nickname “Kash,” was killed in an early Sunday shooting in downtown Oakland. A woman has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Paige built a following on the streaming platform Now That’s TV, appearing in series such as Young & Reckless, RoomH8z, and Real West Coast Baddies. Family members identified her as the victim, a detail later corroborated by KTVU, which also shared a tribute on Instagram.

Now That’s TV, founded by Black entrepreneur Teleau Belton, specializes in unfiltered reality programming.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oakland police responded to reports of gunfire on the 200 block of 14th Street, near the intersection of 14th and Harrison. Officers found Paige suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel provided on-scene aid before transporting her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities arrested a Richmond woman linked to the killing. As of Monday morning, police had not publicly released the suspect’s name, the specific charges, or a detailed account of how the shooting unfolded. The department’s Homicide Section continues to lead the investigation.

Footage circulating on TikTok captured a heavy police response outside a nearby lounge, according to KTVU reporting.

In the hours leading up to the incident, Paige had shared Instagram Stories depicting an enjoyable Saturday night out.

By Sunday, friends and relatives had created an informal memorial near the scene. They remembered her as energetic and outgoing, someone who thrived in the spotlight and aspired to greater fame.

Her cousin Nicky Clayton told KTVU that Paige had stopped by to see family earlier. Clayton noted that Paige had modeled for various companies and hoped to establish herself fully as a reality television personality, launch her own business, and work as a makeup artist.
