Security Guard Being Attacked Pulls Out His Gun And Shoots Assailant Multiple Times!
A man shot by a security guard outside a downtown Nashville Greyhound station is now in custody after hospital release. The incident has prompted debate over whether the shooting was necessary.
Cellphone video shows 22-year-old Jacorey McIntosh striking 39-year-old security guard Douglas West. Another person pulls McIntosh away before three gunshots ring out. Police say surveillance footage captures McIntosh moving toward West just before the guard fired.
West told 911 that McIntosh grabbed a magazine from his vest and beat him with it, adding he “had to shoot him” after being attacked. A second caller said McIntosh “wouldn’t leave him alone.”
Earlier, West had asked McIntosh to leave. About 45 minutes later, police say McIntosh threw hot coffee in West’s face, charged him twice, and threw punches.
Defense attorney Ben Raybin said that while it may initially look excessive, police reports suggest the shooting was justified. West faces no charges; authorities ruled it self-defense after consulting the District Attorney’s Office.
McIntosh is charged with felony aggravated assault. His bond is $10,000.
