Texas Mother Kills 4-Year-Old Daughter, Then Herself After Losing Custody Battle!

A 35-year-old woman in Houston, Texas, shot and killed her four-year-old daughter shortly after a family court awarded primary custody of the child to the girl’s father. The mother then turned the weapon on herself.

Cibelle Savella was scheduled to transfer her daughter, Vivian, to her ex-husband, Aaron Savella, on Tuesday evening. Instead, she opened fire inside their Houston residence. Houston Police Department officers arrived at the third-floor home around 5:45 p.m. local time in response to reports of a shooting. They discovered Vivian dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers also found Cibelle Savella with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead on Wednesday, according to police statements reported Thursday.

Originally from Brazil, Cibelle Savella and Aaron had been married for four years before their contentious divorce was finalized in November 2024. The couple then engaged in a prolonged and bitter custody dispute over their daughter. A judge had just ruled in Aaron’s favor, ordering that Vivian be returned to him that same night.

Aaron’s attorney, Charlotte Rainwater, described the family as devastated by the tragedy. “I’ve been practising family law for 28 years and have never experienced anything like this. I don’t think anyone in this courtroom on Tuesday contemplated this could be the outcome,” Rainwater said.

A relative of the family shared a statement expressing profound grief: “Vivian was 4 years old. She was loved without limit by her father, Aaron, and by everyone whose life she touched. There are no words for what has been taken from us.”

The statement continued: “Aaron did everything the law asks of a parent who is trying to protect his child. He trusted the courts. He followed every order. He waited for the process to work. On Tuesday, a judge placed Vivian in his primary care, and she was supposed to come home to him that evening. She never did.”
